Oh, Freedom Friday January 25 2019 at 8:00 PM

Bradenton Kiwanis Theater
× Oh Freedom is based on historical events and tells the story of the greatest collaboration against racism in American history prior to the Civil Rights movement—the Underground Railroad. Combining stories of the men and women who were active in the fight against slavery with songs of the period, it reminds us that it took the cooperation, conviction, and bravery of many people, both black and white, to help hundreds of enslaved people make their way to freedom.

Pirates of Penzance Friday January 25 2019 at 8:00 PM

Stone Hall
× This rollicking, music-filled farce, which premiered in 1879, includes home-town references to our own Pittsburg Pirates. At eight years of age, Frederic was apprenticed to a group of fun-loving, soft-hearted pirates. Now 21, he decides to leave the pirates to lead “a blameless life.” He makes it his goal to eradicate these pirates. Fun and mayhem follow. Gilbert and Sullivan’s ditties are as clever today as they were in the 1800s.
